have you ascertained that so far ?
i think you may have way more interest in the forum known as the darkside - than perhaps here - but hey i could be mistaken.

I have been reading a lot of interesting opinions on here, I may not add anything to it as yet as I have only just joined like most. If by the dark side you mean the Uban Art Forum I have no interest in that one! I noticed art for sale on here so thought I would see if anyone was interested in the Whatson, I can easily take it off! no problem .

Sadly it's a bit 'Truman Show' - I got it yesterday for saying something that might have been contentious and very quickly got some defensive posturing.
Just gonna lurk to see how it goes but I personally get an unconfortable vibe - sure it's all good and as long as you don't say or do the wrong things you will be ok

Hi @mayo sorry you feel like that  think there was some misunderstanding yesterday. The thing is this did start as a quick joke by sɐǝpı ɟo uoıʇɐɹǝpǝɟ but is now a full on forum, everyone wants to give it the best shot of working and I think the stuff you are talking about was more about trying to get over that there's enough space for lots of art forums and there shouldn't be a problem people being members of as few or as many as they want. I hope this isn't going to turn into the Urban Art Forum lol . I think its better if people just let others do what they feel is right and the mods decide If its right or wrong, the other forum went wrong because everyone had an opinion that ended up in full scale war more time than not. NOT to mention the hideous Troll problem. I posted some art for sale on here, I have said nothing to anyone and that is being questioned. Is there a forum for sign language?  Plus I think it is good that the mods on here are actually taking notice and putting people right, sadly where the other forum went wrong they were useless. |

@charliebrown you're right, I should have explained myself. So far, this forum has been a wonderful haven. Talking about art and other subjects in a funny, fun and sometimes (dare I say it) intellectual way.
I'm not opposed to all for sale threads, they serve a purpose and I've bought and sold plenty on UAA. My concern was more with it being your first post, and this place devolving into UAA where people come just to sell rather than contribute.
Personally I read forums through the recent posts tab and have really enjoyed the variety that has offered on this forum. I suppose I'm just worried that people coming to sell things without contributing turns that into dozens of whatson, chevier, dotdotdot sales threads which frankly, bores the shit out of me.
I do hope you can sell your piece and stick around to contribute to some of the other threads.

why not just make it you need to be a member for 1 month and 50 posts before posting a for sale thread. Very easy way to stop people from using the forum only to make money.

If we all make this place a cool hangout, more focussed on "art and banter" than "money and the egos", it will all sort itself out. Folks who are only in it for a quick buck won't bother to come here and flip their prints, as they will have several other forums / sites for that. And if it doesn't work out that way, you can always impose some kind of minimum on posts or years of membership to limit the crap And if that doesn't work out we can set-up a court, and hang a few people, you know just to make an example. That would be loads of fun |
