I hate them, , no I have no feeling for them, they had killing people for nothing .. The muslim community should have done more to address theses issues long ago. Sadly, the response will be an enormous show of force against targets throughout the M.E. Many people will die, both terrorists and innocents. People will flee the carnage. Refugees will be treated suspiciously and poorly, if not turned away completely. I suspect there will be more of these terrible events in Europe until the free movement of people in the EU stops and borders are checked. Law enforcement will become more aggressive in their searches for terrorists and innocent people's rights will be trampled on. Mass deportations. Hatred and intolerance will thrive.
Hopefully, I am wrong.

If we take 9/11 as the most successful terrorist attack in history, what happened with the US after that? The military got a blank cheque, the secret service answered to no one, two countries got invaded, huge numbers of both civilian and combatants killed. And what's it fixed? We any safer?
The military alone can't do it. You either have to kill everybody or find other solutions to the problem.
I'm not against military action, but might alone won't do it. I think it'll take a military, political and economic response to combat extremists that are forged in volatile and unstable regions. Otherwise you're just going to perpetuate the violence. The power of education shouldn't be underestimated either. On all sides.
The West shouldn't act as the recruitment drive for ISIS. They want us to be the enemy they say we are, but I think our response should always be measured and our humanity never restricted.
Anyway, we won't fix these problems overnight. Probably not on the art forums either. |

My opinion: when something tragic happens, understandably people get very emotional. no matter your opinion, please remain emphatic to opposing viewpoints. you have a better chance of changing one's opinion if you can see where they're coming from, no matter how much they differ from yours
kinda on topic but not really - I just watched the Louis Theraux doc on the Westboro Baptist Church yesterday, and I was particularly struck by how he was able to keep his composure in the face of obvious bigotry.... rather than get angry, he tried to talk to them as people in an attempt to understand their feelings, while also telling them that their opinions were just opinions
