one of the best of the early synthpop/minimal wave bands Quite like that – especially the John Carpenter / Escape from NY vibe at the beginning.

hearing these songs live just makes me hate the production of Nervermind that much more That's a pretty good concert to be fair – I saw them at UEA in 85/86 and they were terrible (shit). What is it about Vigs' production you didn't like? overproduced... ... the vocals and guitar are too wet.... for the most part they're clean playing live so why drench them in effects on the recording? overall, it's missing the rawness that made Bleach and Incesticide so great

Medical Records put out a full length a couple years ago if you liked that one. actually almost everything Medical Records puts out has been great... especially the Chrisma records and the Electroconvulsive Therapy comps (compiled mostly of very early synth pop singles that hadn't been available) www.medical-records.org/about/index.htmlhere's another GCP and one from the first ET comp

Anyhoo, here's another goodie. I miss Nirvana.

I think so.... or Jack Endino. the songs are great - but I'd much rather listen to live versions... imagine if the record sounded closer to this? insane. so much better IMO

Easy win for New Order here, wish I hadn't listened to the second one maybe you didn't play it loud enough Xiu Xiu is an acquired taste, but they have some truly brilliant albums. legends this one is devastating:

just a heads up - for fans of Suicide, Throbbing Gristle, Screamers (early synth-punk, noise, early goth, early electronic) etc etc... if you haven't heard of Xiu Xiu (don't know how popular they are or aren't outside of a small following in the US), check out all their records, in order... I don't think you'll be disappointed i think this one is a good barometer to see if you'll like them or not
