Given that these things regularly go live early I don’t understand why people aren’t ready to go a few minutes early. I was refreshing from 655, used Apple Pay for a quick check out and got my confirmation email at 658. Still don’t think I have a low enough order number though. I really want the book though so happy anyway with a first edition. Apple Pay lol ! Only Laz could do that !!! We speak about art and culture yes ? No high tech or the last iPhone ?

I was on there a couple minutes early and got an order in the 1740's... don't know where the numbering started though. crossing my fingers if anyone is desperate enough for a tenner and has the cash, he's been selling them for $900 (i think) Erm 900 $ is not 25 quids. Laz played with this legendary tenner to put the hype at the top ! Otherwise , his books still would not have being sold out. I would not bought one through. No interest. Pics seen billions of times or with a red smiley/spot... Well I have no words about this commercial operation... Ssosva madd better books on their own ( without text etc ).. This is not a book, but an ego trip demonstration I guess :-)

Regularly go live early- Do they?
I might not have enough experience, but of the times I've tried buying something at launch, they haven't gone live early (beyond maybe a few seconds). I also was at the website earlier, but refreshing didn't go through. Maybe it was a connection issue?
Hopefully everyone enjoys the purchase and gets lucky with something extra...I just think that when you're trying to create hype for your book, you gotta do your best to level the playing field, especially when you say "fair's fair."
Also he wrote "you’ll be able to order as many books as you want" in the E-mail. Not that I meant to buy more than 1, but after adding 4 accidentally it was hard to remove items from the cart and I got a "no more than 3" error.
That's it. So if there is a drop at 7pm, what are you doing at 655pm? The washing up? Watching telly? Do you not get ready 5 minutes early for something you really want to get? 5 minutes FFS. Yes, you do sound a bit whiny.

I didn't expected it to drop earlier too. I got on the pc at 6:55 and prepared a fast checkout with the good old cart an other item trick and entering the address and everything. When I was ready it was 7 pm so probably no chance to get a tenner, but there is still the print... Yes it happens often, but it sucks if you forget about that or waste to much time like I did. So I can understand everybody who feels a little bit dissapointed because of that.

When I saw about Apple Pay or to scan my bank card, I known in myself I was fucked: too many different steps to make and the guy did not take Paypal ! Anyway I’m quite sure that all was done at the launch. Bad experience at all, a bit insane. Some have been in confident for this earlier launch.

I'm worried this might turn sour, but it's generating interesting discussion on the website and it's a breath of fresh air. Hope you don't mind if I continue EKAP. I'm not sure if you really read my whole post. I said I was on the page earlier- I don't think anyone can just log in at 7:00 GMT exactly and expect to be early enough. The point is I was ready, but not expecting to buy. Runners waiting at the starting line of a race also really want to be first, but they don't dare push off the block before they hear the gunshot. In fact, if their response is "too fast" it's a false start and they're disqualified. Does that mean they want it less? I don't think so. They know the rules that force a situation where "fair's fair." Again, not yelling that this is a scam or something, just pointing out how something good can be made better. Adding a reCAPTCHA to stop bots is one way. Starting on time is another. And if it started at 6:45pm? I could've said "so it's only 15 minutes before and anyone with real interest would be on the website at around 6:50 anyway. So for people who really want it, just another 5 minutes FFS." It's an argument that never ends. We should've waited in tents and focused on nothing else but the sale of a book. I think this is at the heart of "Why Does Art Matter?" It's interesting that on GDP the "why" was crossed out because context is everything. It'll always matter, the question is for what... We can agree to disagree, but the facts are pretty clear. A few seconds early or late is one thing (always better to be a bit late, but whatever) because clocks, world time and all that. But an entire minute is a bit early in my eyes. If people here are right and a buyer was able to cart and checkout the item already at around 6:55pm, that feels extreme. Go tell an experienced runner that it's "5 minutes FFS." People running 400M like what we did to try and be the first 50 will laugh out loud. EKAP, I wish you the best mate. If in a few days you post that you've got a tenner I'll be very happy for you. We all know how the art world can be sometimes which is why there's a big difference between "life's life" and "fair's fair." I hope we don't forget that.

Jesus fucking Christ. Stop. It’s a fucking book with a fucking raffle element that few people were going to fucking win in the first fucking place. You’re disappointed. I fucking get it. but you didn’t write the fucking book and you’d didn’t get the fucking job to arrange the sale so tough fucking shit. Life is a cunt like that. Mainly middle of the road with occasional highs and lows. Go do something that makes you fucking smile.
Too many armchair fucking managers at points like this. Fucking Basquiat, doing most of his painting and dying before I was made aware and could have fucking bought one. Cunt.

How early you want to start refreshing is up to you - I suggest it correlates with how much you want the item, so " We should've waited in tents and focused on nothing else but the sale of a book." is true if that's how bad you wanted a tenner. If you didn't want it enough to do that then just accept it and move on. And given bots, friends of the seller, friends of friends, presales, insider knowledge etc, trying to compare any of this to a fair running race is nonsense. None of us are getting tenners.

I get what you're saying. I don't exactly agree with it, but that's alright. Glad to hear other perspectives.
Hopefully you're wrong and at least someone not "inside" gets a tenner. Would be a nice holiday present.
Jeez mate. RELAX.
"still hate thatcher" "it's not me, its the hate..." "i hated Morrissey before it was cool"
Seems like hate is what you're all about. I'm not even upset, but I appreciate you suggesting I do something that makes me smile. Maybe you should do the same?
Not sure if you do it on purpose or not, but you definitely come off as a troll. Armchair manager? Laz and team said it would drop at 7:00pm. I expected it to drop at 7:00pm. Not sure what that has to do with writing the book or arranging the sale.
For someone who's trying to educate me, you seem a lot more worked up then I am... I'd love to get to know more about what interests you and hopefully have a discussion that isn't just barking insults and curses at people.
Wishing you the best chap.

The special thing everybody is hoping for and could make it a good book are inside stories and studio pictures nobody has heard/seen before. No matter if you like laz or not, he was at the right place at the right time.

So, what do we reckon? Interesting insight or massive sellout? haven't received mine yet, but I will say that Banksy probably woudn't have risen to the fame he has (for better or for worse) without Laz, so I'm looking forward to hearing his what he has to say... and of course those old photos

I have received the book today and its ok. Quality is great for a soft cover but Laz did not put too much love in it I guess. A nice collection of pics but not to compare with Wall and Piece.

A good book but I am glad that it wasn't more expensive. Some nice studio pictures but no real surprise... I like the glasgow story!
Nevertheless I have some questions for you: On page 98 you can spot a POW sticker on the shelf I haven't seen before. Anybody has a better picture of that one? Or knows what it said? On page 100&101, who did the leg automat? On page 148/149 somebody has a picture of the sprayed stencil or knows where I can find one? On page 231 and 233 is the exact same picture. Why Steve? On page 239, who is the guy on the picture with the red glasses? On page 241 top picture, is that a black shirt on the right? Anybody has a better picture of this? On page 246, what is wrong with santas leg?

They're not the same. On page 241 top picture, is that a black shirt on the right? Anybody has a better picture of this?
Not the tee, but the stencil: On page 246, what is wrong with santas leg?
Nothing. There's something in front.
