Banksy is doing fine, look at the auction market. If its noticeably cheaper here or on the other 2 forums, its because the small amount of members who wanted pieces, have them now. Myself included. Ive also noticed the frenzy slow down, but thats just here, auction is still strong.
There are millions of non-members, new fans, higher collectors, and people who dont buy art on the internet keeping the urban market rather healthy, and to prove that, do not look at the secondary market of new releases, look at the gallery releases, originals, etc. Paintings are sold everyday, prints are selling out every release.
Its been a while, hello!

A very large, call it seismic, market correction in the US is approaching. What impact that will have on our little hobby is unknown. I suspect it will not be a good thing for so-called blue chip artists like Fairey, Banksy, Invader, Brainwash, etc., and will all but close the doors of the glut of new print houses and the artists they represent. Liquidate accordingly. Just my bearish opinion. Take it with a grain of salt. Jesus brainwash is blue chip ?!? US is approaching a market correction well it has been 7 years since the last one. so-called, in terms of our little hobby, yes. there are many deep pocketed buyers throwing down fairey, invader and banksy type cash for his work. his work is as good as any of the other artist I've mentioned.
this coming correction will hurt more than 08. I doubt we'll be seeing the bailouts we saw then. the writing is on the walls. think 1929.
DJIA is at 18K+ now...

>>>Signed, lesser known Warhol prints like Committee 2000 or Space Fruit sell for considerably less then signed (and sometimes even unsigned) Banksy prints, and the same Sotheby's auction mentioned above sold several signed Warhol soup cans for $22-26K, or less than many galleries will ask for a signed Banksy -- and Warhol Soup Cans are signature, seminal works.<<<<
Most of that price differential is due to volume imo. The Warhol committee 2k release is equal to ~25% of Banksy's entire signed output. The soup cans alone (5k) would number about half of his entire signed print releases. There are more signed flavors of each Warhol soup (250) than most signed releases from Banksy. There are 7500 total signed soups and committee 2k's and you still have another 120k+ signed Warhol prints to choose from compared to a total of maybe 10k signed Banksy prints. It makes any price comparison between the two artists difficult at best.

It makes any price comparison between the two artists difficult at best. Warhol's prints vary hugely in price, as you pointed out those lesser Warhols can be had sub 10k with some shopping easily. Yet After the Party an edition of 1000 used to cost the same as Committee about 15 years ago and I think now sells at 20k. And back in the day around 1k could get you either and a few others any day of the week. Banksy's numbers seem pretty consistent but it's early days yet. Point being like a lesser Warhol back in the day, picking up a lesser Banksy will still make money long term but nothing like his sought after images. But there are bound to be a couple sleepers as time goes on. The one difference is the huge number of unsigned Banksy prints is a newer phenomena for serious print collectors but so far they have proved so far to be well accepted and prices going well above what I imagined 4 years ago, but hey I'm old and dull...

The penny not dropped for most folk?
I've noticed the same people touting big prices on Banksy prints, yet months/years down the line the same prints are still being touted for sale.

Jesus brainwash is blue chip ?!?US is approaching a market correction well it has been 7 years since the last one. I realise of course that your question was entirely rhetorical, and that the answer is a clear 'no', but let's back that up with further rhetoric by asking when was the last time MBW did a show, or indeed placed anything other than a print edition on the market. Blue chip? Fuck off. Stay tuned... Be Patient

Lovely, I watched that film numerous times and still love it, infact it almost pushed me towards considering a gender reassignment and living with Aborigines, I however chose not to do so, my loss not theirs.

INB4GLWSGREATGUYTODEALWITHBLAHBLAHBLAH Zero transparency Yes of course your so right banks you prices are high because people on here say they don't think there's a fall in price..! Would love a crash as I wish I owned more of the cracking pieces that Andy gets I do not believe prices are dropping but that's not cause I want to keep them high. I hope they crash so I can buy some originals at a decent price.. So because I don't see it happening how is that hyping the price. Bit like saying your just trying to talk them down as opposed to out of your rear!!
